At age 10 her favorite teacher recognized her art talents, and Karen was sent to the Chicago Art Institute on scholarship. Her art talent continued while attending Schurz High School, thanks to the art teacher there. She studied art with Edith Goodale and Estelle Fedelle, painting in oil and watercolor. Now her art has included pastel, acrylic, colored pencil and charcoal.

In 1984 and 1985 she wrote/published and illustrated (her own) sacred songbooks for children after winning three music scholarships to Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, IL.

Presently teaching Tamerack Home for the Aged, Palatine, IL Specializing in – Wolves, animals in general and many other subjects as well.
