Emilio Bueno Kulmakorpi – I’m 23 years old and was born in Finland but raised in Glenview. I was diagnosed with Asperger’s, a form of autism spectrum disorder, at a young age. A common symptom of Asperger’s is having a hard time relating to others socially or expressing ideas verbally since my condition makes me process information differently, though a lens that others may have difficulty understanding. From early on, I enjoyed drawing very much and I have been very passionate about it ever since. I have studied drawing, painting, figure drawing and graphic design at Oakton Community College. Art has become my way of expressing myself. It is a universal language where thoughts, emotions, and messages can be conveyed and understood no matter who you are. My skills as an artist have given me confidence and community. Art is not just my hobby but a career path that I’m working on.
I hope to continue learning my craft and sharing it with others.
