A native of Westchester, Illinois, Mary Ann has had a life-long love for drawing. However, her education and careers took her in other directions until she once again began to explore her interest in drawing at the Art Institute’s member sketching classes. When she left the corporate environment she was introduced for the first time to watercolor and was immediately intrigued by its complexity and potential. Essentially self-taught she has been fortunate to have had numerous mentors who have helped her shape her artistic vision and approach. She enjoys painting a wide variety of subjects and is chiefly inspired by light, color, and form. She has created numerous custom commissions and her watercolors have been on display at various Midwestern exhibits. In addition to receiving several exhibit awards, her works are in private collections throughout the United States and in Europe. She also enjoys creating custom semi-precious jewelry that displays the same creative mixture of color and design which influences her watercolors. She teaches drawing and watercolor at several local centers. She lives in Glenview with her husband.
