Anna Cherkashina is a Chicago artist who works in oils and acrylics. Anna puts a mix of realism and impressionism into most of her paintings, with her main topics being “en plein air.” She enjoys cityscapes, water views, natural landscapes, and floral paintings. Her favorite thing is to paint in the open air and capture light, colors, the feeling of air – the magic of life!Anna loves to bring excitement to her paintings with color and asymmetrical compositions. She expresses her emotions about a subject with bold, confident brushstrokes and a high-key palette. Most inspired by impressionists, Anna likes to develop the atmosphere and mood of the scene. She revisits the same scene at several times
during the day or during different weather conditions. Her emphasis is always on color and light, enjoying the interplay of sun and shade.
Anna works on large paintings and commissions in her studio, where she also runs her workshops and art classes.
A graduate of Moscow National Art College (2007), Anna is now a member of Palette and Chisel Art Academy of Fine Arts and Plein Air Painters of Chicago.
As an avid plein air painter, Anna participates in state and local plein air competitions, exhibits and art festivals. Her painting adventures have taken her from Sicily to the Grand Canyon. Anna can be found painting en plein air in any weather.
Anna has been living in Chicago for 16 years, working as a Visual Designer and raising her 3 kids.
