Summer Art Fair 2023: What a great weekend!

Glenview’s 69th annual Summer Art Fair on July 22-23 was a big success! We had a gorgeous weekend, fabulous fun, great weather and turnout! We enjoyed every minute!

We had more than 80 Artists exhibited at The Glenview Art League’s Annual Summer Art Fair returned to the grounds of Lyon School on Saturday and Sunday, July 22-23. Juried fine art painting, sculpture, ceramics, woodworking, photography, fiber arts and more were available for sale.

Tom Pope and Lee Colpi served as event co-chairs. Judges William Jamieson and Vesna Jovanovic awarded the following:

Many new artists joined us. Aaron Taber, winner of Best in Show at the 2023 Youth Art Fair, and Zander Brandt, recipient of the 2023 scholarship, will exhibit their work at the Summer Art Fair. Patrons enjoyed a kids activity table and henna art, ice cream, cookies, and more. Goode & Fresh Pizza provided a special menu and delivery options.

A bench near the school grounds was dedicated in memory of the late Virginia Edwards, 1944-2021. Edwards was president of the Glenview Art League from 1992-1998. She organized the Summer Art Fair for many years.

A Silent Auction raised funds for the Glenview Art League’s Youth Art Fair. Items were donated by generous community businesses including: Abt, Artsy Heart (newly opened in the Glen), the Chicago White Sox, Chipotle, CKF Acupuncture, Colonial Dental, Elements Massage, Gail’s Brownies, Hackney’s, Johnny’s, Kohl Children’s Museum, Lynfred Winery, Oil Lamp Theater, Target, Yoga Six and more. Many artists’ works were also included in the auction.

The 50/50 Split the Pot Raffle winner was Susan Cunningham. The raffle also raised funds for the Glenview Art League’s Youth Art Fair.

“I’m grateful to many volunteers who pitched in to give artists a warm welcome and keep the event running smoothly,” said Deb Anderson, president of the Glenview Art League, “We are a nonprofit organization and our events are run by volunteers committed to promoting art in Glenview.” Summer Art Fair community sponsors include Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, The Doetsch Team, Del Vasey Insurance, Expedia Cruise Center, Abt, Elements Massage – Glenview, Yoga Six, Sunset Foods, and Goode & Fresh Pizza.
